In the Diocese of Calgary, children must receive the Sacrament of First Reconciliation prior to receiving the Sacrament of First Holy Communion. Therefore, preparation for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion are combined in the same school year, with First Reconciliation in the fall and First Holy Communion in the spring.
Children baptized in the in the Catholic Faith or if they are registered in the Children of Catechetical Age Baptism Program can register for both First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion.
