Baptism is the first step into your Child's faith journey. The following guidelines are presented to help you embark upon this journey with Christ and His Church. 

In preparation for the Baptism, Ascension Catholic Parish requires the following paperwork: 

• Baptism Registration Form - below

• Parish Registration Form - link on home page

• Copy of child's Birth Certificate

• Copy of a parents Catholic Baptismal Certificate 

• Parents are asked to submit a letter as to their path going forward in raising the child in the Catholic Faith.  Example; Mass you will be participating in, faith practices in your home, sacraments for both the child and parents, ways the Parish can assist you in both community and raising your child in the Catholic Faith.  Please email the letter to sacraments@ascensionparish.ca . Please address the letter to our Pastor Fr. John Luxbacher.

• Godparents

  • ​Godparents are to be Confirmed practicing Catholics.

  • Families can choose one or two Godparents, if there are two Godparents, one is to be  male and one is to be female.

• Non-Catholic Parents, Permission to Baptize Form - emailed upon receiving the registration

• ​Non-Catholic Parents Commitment of Faith Form - emailed upon receiving the registration

Baptism Preparation
Required for families with two or less children. The Baptism Preparation has two components,

an online course completed at home and an in person class at the church.

Belonging - Family Online Course
Families with two or less children are to participate in Belonging, an online Pre-Baptism course in their homes. The fee for the course is $20.00 Payment can be made by E-Transfer to finance@ascensionparish.ca Please put Baptism and your families name in the note section. Upon receiving your registration and payment, the course information will be emailed to you in the week prior to the Baptism Class.

Baptism In Person Class

• Classes are on the following dates:​​​​​​​

  • No Class December

  • January 27th

  • February 24th

  • March 24th

  • No Class April

  • May 26th

• ​Baptism Classes are at Ascension Catholic Parish, 

  • 1100 Berkshire Blvd. NW, Calgary

• Classes time: 6:00-7:00pm

• Godparents and children are welcomed to attend the Preparation Class

 

Sacrament of Baptism
Ascension Catholic Parish offers Baptism's on Saturday's at 10:00am and Sunday's at 2:30pm.

The Sacrament Coordinator will set up the Baptism date with you once the requirements are completed. Please note that Baptisms are not held on long week-ends.
