Young Adult's hike
Ascension Catholic Parish's first annual “Young Adult” Hike to honour the life of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati, mountaineer and advocate for social justice!
Join us on Saturday, June 21, as we hike Sarrail Ridge in celebration of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati!
All young adults from ages 18-25 are welcome! The registration deadline is June 16th, 2025.
Sarrail Ridge is just under 2 hours from Calgary. We’ll follow the Trans-Canada Highway West and Kananaskis Trail to the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot. From there, we begin along the Upper Kananaskis Trail to the Rawson Lake junction. After passing Rawson Lake, there’s a steep climb up to the ridge — but the stunning views at the top are well worth the effort!
We’ll meet in the church parking lot at 7:15 am, with a departure at 7:30 am sharp. Please arrive ready with your gear packed and dressed for the weather.
Each participant should bring:
-
A packed lunch and snacks
-
2–3 litres of water (plus an extra bottle for after the hike)
-
Sturdy hiking boots or shoes
-
Sunscreen and a hat
-
A change of shoes and socks or sandals for after the hike
We’ll take breaks along the way and enjoy lunch at the top of the ridge. After the hike, we’ll unwind by the lake — the water will be too cold for swimming, but perfect for a refreshing soak!
It will be a full day outdoors. We expect to return to the church between 5:00 and 6:00 pm.
Come for the adventure, the views, and the community! We hope to see you there!
